Clear Lake DE has a Favorite

We caught up with Clear Lake Defensive End Nick Adams Sunday afternoon to discuss his thoughts on the upcoming season and Rice University.

Ask Nick Adams where his top choice to attend college and play football, and he does not hesitate to tell you. "Rice! I like that school a lot!"

Adams, who is entering his Senior year with Clear Lake, is 6' 4" and weighs in at 250 lbs. He's being recruited as a Strong side end, but at 6-4 250 pounds already could grow into an inside player. He has a couple things left that he would like to accomplish this year, but is also starting to think about life after High School. "Right now, if I had to list my favorites, it would be Rice, Northwestern, UTEP, Oklahoma State, and SMU.I started all 10 games last year, and was an Honorable Mention selection last year. For the upcoming season, I would love to make 1st team all district, as well as secure a scholarship."

Adams also seems to have the academic side of being a student-athlete in order as well. "I have a 3.3 GPA coming in to this year, and have scored a 1600 on the SAT, with a 1200 on the core math and reading sections"

Adams attended camp at Rice as well as Texas, and UTEP this summer, but again was not shy about sharing the fact that Rice was his favorite. Adams already has plans to attend a Rice home game early in the year. "I'll be at the Texas Tech game (on September 15th).

When asked how his recruitment by Rice has been going, he had this to share: "I am being recruited by Coach Elliot. We talk pretty often." Although Adams does not have an offer yet from Rice, with some more production on the field this year, that could very well change.

Stay tuned to to see how Nick Adams' recruitment progresses…
