Monday Tidbits

With Owl Digest providing exclusive coverage of the upcoming Thursday Mini Camp at Rice, we're putting out a special Monday Edition of regular feature, "Tidbits"...

Rice coaches all reported back in to the office this morning from a little well deserved vacation time. Coaches spent time last week from California to Florida, recharging their batteries for the upcoming season. And it will be here before you know it, SMU is just over 6 weeks away. Wow, think about that! Rice players report in just over 2 weeks.

Anyway, today in a special Monday Edition of Thursday Tidbits we highlight a little bit of what will be a very busy week for the Rice Football program.

Rice will host several unofficial visitors this week - both committed and otherwise. Then of course Thursday is the final Mini Camp of the summer, held at Rice Stadium. The Owls expect a solid turnout as this will be one of the last camps of the summer before high school pre-season drills begin.

There's always the possibility of a commit or two following a camp so this week could be very exciting. If the Owls do gain a player or two they'll have very few scholarships available to finish out the 2009 class with. While the Owls picked up a huge commit from RB Charles Ross last week, they have remaining needs at Safety, Wide Receiver, Quarterback, and Cornerback.

The coaches will actually be in an unusual position for this camp - with most of their class in place already, they'll be able to pay a little more attention to the 2010 prospects who will be there. Just another benefit to the hard work they've put in this year.

Owl Digest will have full camp coverage from Thursday's event, and perhaps a couple of updates beforehand from players who will attend...

Now, go check out the Owl's Nest and enjoy your Bits...
