MIAMI -- As part of's "10 in 10" segment, which is be 10 observations from the just-completed game designed to be read in 10 seconds or less, check out a few things from Rutgers' 19-14 win at Florida International on Saturday at FIU Stadium.

1. Ba-da Bing: CB Brandon Bing started the game with an interception, but also had trouble in coverage on two big plays later in the first quarter on FIU's first TD drive.

2.Block Party: Bing came off the edge to block two punts in the opener, and SS Joe Lefeged came through the middle to block two FIU punts.

3. Home Cooking: Senior LB Antonio Lowery made nine tackles, forced a fumble and recovered one, and was effective running down the line of scrimmage..

4. Mixed blitzes: Rutgers had a lot of success blitzing, bringing Lowery through the middle and occasionally bring Lefeged as well.

5. San San, Eh?: Rutgers PK San San Te showed his tremendous leg strength by making a 42- and 43-yarder with ease, but then came up short and wide right from 52 yards at the end of the half.

6. The Other Lowery: Red-shirt freshman Antwan Lowery rotated with Caleb Ruch at right guard, and did so with mixed results, sometimes showing his power but other times getting beat.

7. Waiting for Deering: WR Jeremy Deering had a few nice blocks, but also dropped a pass in the fourth quarter and still looks like he is adjusting to the speed and strength of the college game.

8. Oh, Snap: The offensive was out of whack so much center Howard Barbieri and QB Tom Savage mishandled a snap and Barbieri also snapped one over Mohamed Sanu's head.

9. Making the Right Read: Sanu's 24-yard TD pass to TE D.C. Jefferson came when Sanu made a read on FIU's secondary.

10. Few freshmen: Deering and RB Jordan Thomas were the only true freshman to play as OG Betim Bujari, WR J.T. Tartacoff, DE Marcus Thompson and QB Chas Dodd all sat.
