Buie's Mom: RB Didn't De-Commit From Rutgers

The mother of four-star running back Chevelle Buie of Cocoa (Fla.) High told ScarletReport.com her son has not de-committed from Rutgers, and she went on further to talk about what is happening with her son and being recruited to another school. Come inside ScarletReport.com to find out exactly what is going on with one of the top players on Rutgers' recruiting board.

Denise Hubbard, the mother of Rutgers recruit and Cocoa (Fla.) High running back Chevelle Buie, told ScarletReport.com her son did not de-commit from Rutgers.

However, Hubbard said her son will take official visits to other schools, and if at the end he still favors the Scarlet Knights, he will wind up in New Jersey.

"He did not de-commit," Hubbard said. "It is his parents saying he should leave the option open, but (people) should understand he is not de-committing. He's exploring his options and wants to make sure it is the right thing."

Asked of Buie was still committed to Rutgers, Hubbard said, "yes, he is. It was a verbal commitment, so he can look at other schools. He didn't de-commit."

Hubbard added it was at her urging request Buie is planning to visit other schools. Calls to Buie's cell phone were not answered.

According to Florida sources close to Buie, he remains high on Rutgers, but his parents wanted him to look at other options to make sure the Scarlet Knights were the right choice for him.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Buie has run 99 times for 703 yards and nine scores this season. He also has nine catches for 221 yards and two scores and returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Buie, who is a close friend of Rutgers cornerback David Rowe, committed to Rutgers during an unofficial visit to the school in June. At that time, Hubbard expressed concern about the commitment since she had yet to visit the school.
