Buie: "I'm still committed to Rutgers"

Four-star running back Chevelle Buie spoke to ScarletReport.com about reports he de-committed from Rutgers. In debunking those reports, Buie said "I'm still committed to Rutgers," and went further in depth as to why there might have been some confusion.

Four-star Cocoa (Fla.) High running back Chevelle Buie told ScarletReport.com reports he de-committed from Rutgers are inaccurate, saying the confusion stems from his desire to take official visits to see other schools.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Buie committed to Rutgers in June, and late Thursday night he was asked if his pledge to the Scarlet Knights was still good.

"I'm still committed to Rutgers," Buie said. "I didn't de-commit. I'm going to take a few visits because that is what my mom wants me to do, but I'm still committed to Rutgers."

Buie's mom (Denise Hubbard) told ScarletReport.com earlier in the day she was encouraging him to visit other schools, and Cocoa High coach John Wilkerson is advising him in the same way. Buie was asked if that was the case.

"Yes, sir," Buiee said. "Because with me being new to the recruiting process, even though I'm committed to Rutgers, I want to take all my visits. I just want to listen to them, because they do know more than I do.

"You never know what the next school will have for me, plus the experience. I get to go to new places that I've never been to."

Buie said he is yet to speak with Rutgers about the development, but that could come soon.

"I've got a game (Friday) and they've got a game Saturday, so maybe I will try to call them and talk to them on Sunday," he said. "At Rutgers, I feel good with everything. I just want to go look at everything and see stuff like that."

Buie said he could possibly take official visits to Auburn, South Carolina, Oregon, TCU and Tennessee.

"I will also put Rutgers in there, too," he said.
