Is Buie Still Committed to Rutgers?

Cocoa (Fla.) High running back Chevelle Buie committed to Rutgers in June, but a few months ago said he was taking visits as the urging of his coach and mom. Now, three weeks before signing day Buie updated on whether he is still committed to Rutgers, and what his plans are moving forward.

Months after Chevelle Buie re-opened his recruitment, the Cocoa (Fla.) High running back finally acknowledged he is no longer committed to Rutgers.

Buie told he is not a Scarlet Knights commit.

"I'm not committed anywhere," Buie said. "They're still in the mix, but I'm not sure where."

However, the 5-foot-8, 160-pound Buie doesn't appear to be looking hard at Rutgers, and the Scarlet Knights certainly are not recruiting him very hard, if at all.

Buie committed to Rutgers in June while visiting the campus and participating in a camp. He remained steadfastly committed through Rutgers through September, but in mid October said he wanted to take visits.

He continued to say he was committed to Rutgers, including during an interview at the NUC all-star game three weeks ago.

Buie has yet to take an official visit, and does not have one to Rutgers set.

"I'm going to East Carolina this weekend," Buie said. "I'm thinking about taking a trip to Marshall at the end of the month. I don't think I'm going anywhere (Jan. 21) because I have to take the SAT that weekend, but I'm not sure. I have to talk to my mom."

Buie said Miami, which visited Cocoa High last week, and West Virginia are also recruiting him.

"I believe West Virginia did offer, but I don't think Miami did," Buie said. "I'm going to decide on signing day."

Cocoa High finished 14-0, and Buie ran for 1,338 yards and 15 touchdowns, but he was suspended for the final two playoff games after an undisclosed incident.
