Campolattano to Wrestle

Accomplished prep wrestler Andrew Campolattano decided not to play football at Rutgers and has opened up his recruitment as a high school wrestler. The Bound Brook (N.J.) High product informed Rutgers of the decision today.

Bound Brook (N.J.) High's Andrew Campolattano will not enroll at Rutgers and play football, and instead will focus on wrestling in college.

Campolattano, a middle linebacker who was the first commit of the 2011 class, informed the Rutgers coaches of his decision Tuesday.

"I think it's a mutual thing between he and Rutgers," Bound Brook High coach Kevin Carty said. "I know they had been talking about it for a little while."

Where he wrestles still needs to be decided, but he did recently meet with Rutgers wrestling coach Scott Goodale.

Campolattano is a three-time state champion in wrestling at 189 pounds, but is competing at a higher weight class this season.

He was traveling to an away match and told ScarletReport.com he would talk later.

"I am not sure where he is going to go," Carty said. "It remains to be seen. We still have to check out the wrestling recruiting situation."

One possibility is Penn State.
