The 2012 recruiting season is here, and like always, there is plenty of talent in New Jersey for Rutgers to build the class around.

Names change in the recruiting game, especially when the spring evaluation period begins, but right now there is a corps of players every Rutgers aficionado should know, and ScarletReport.com brings you "25 to Watch" as the recruiting class unfolds:

1. Elijah Shumate, S, 6-1, 195, Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey)
Dynamic DB attended Rutgers' junior day and his recruitment could turn national.

A regular visitor to Rutgers campus is very close to the Scarlet Knights coaching staff.

Puts up video game-type numbers as a QB, but will likely play in the secondary in college.

4. Quanzell Lambert, MLB, 6-2, 230, Timber Creek High (Erial)
Tremendous athlete who could anchor the middle of a defense for years.

5. D.J. Singleton, S, 6-3, 195, St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City)
Size and speed will make him one of Jersey's top targets for out-of-state schools.

One of the many talented 2012s with the Ironmen, and high on the Scarlet Knights' list.

Athletic and big, his recruitment has already hit high gear.

Very good feet and athletic, and is working on building strength.

The Jersey Shore continues to produce talent, and Smith is a prime example.

Quick to the ball and aggressive, and also thinks highly of Rutgers.

18. Khalif Herbin, ATH, 5-7, 165, Montclair
Explosive with the ball, can play slot receiver and be a return specialist.

19. Jamil Pollard, DT, 6-4, 280, West Deptford High (Westville)

Rangy WR has good hands and uses his size well.

23. Max Valles, ATH, 6-4, 210, St. Joseph's (Hammonton)
He is athletic, but the question is where he will play in college.

24. Tajae Sharpe, WR/S, 6-1, 170, Piscataway High
Sneaky athletic, Sharpe blends in with the Chiefs, but could excel with development.

25. Michael Giacone, TE, 6-3, 230, St. Peter's Prep
Athleticism, good hands and nice blocking skills makes him an interesting target.
