Rutgers linebacker William Beckford has been spending a lot of time in the offensive backfield this spring. But that's nothing new for quarterback Ryan Hart, another Florida native whose high school team used to battle Beckford's every year.

PISCATAWAY - Clint Dato and John Glass are bigger, stronger, and more athletic than most of Rutgers' recent offensive linemen and could crack the starting lineup for an oft-injured, much-maligned unit in dire need of an upgrade.Dato is a 6-foot-5, 325-pound junior college transfer who has been the starting right guard during the Scarlet Knights' spring practices.The sophomore spent the past two seasons at tackle and admitted after Saturday's workout that "the transition from tackle to guard is a little hard."Glass is a 6-5, 320-pound first-string right tackle who sat out last season after transferring from Division II New Haven. He is a sophomore who has three years of eligibility remaining.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Senior Jeff Duca scored a goal 57 seconds into overtime to give the No. 10 Rutgers lacrosse team a 12-11 victory over No. 4 Syracuse yesterday.It was Duca's second game-winning overtime goal of the season, as he scored with three seconds remaining in overtime to beat UMBC on March 29.Rutgers held a three-goal lead (11-8) with 7:40 remaining in the game, but Syracuse netted three consecutive tallies to force the extra session.
