Where Does Rutgers Stand With OL Muller?

Rutgers was the first school to offer Boyertown (Pa.) Area High offensive tackle Chris Muller, and the likes of Penn State, South Carolina and Florida joined the mix. So, what does the 6-foot-6 290-pound Muller think of the Scarlet Knights. He spoke to ScarletReport.com about it.

Boyertown (Pa.) Area High offensive tackle Chris Muller was offered by Rutgers in the summer, and since then a dozen more suitors extended offers.

However, making an early impression certainly has remained with Muller, who said Rutgers, Penn State and Florida were the schools standing out.

"Those are the schools I know the most about," said Muller, who has no timetable for making a decision. "I'll make a decision when it feels right."

Before a decision is made, though, Muller will have plenty of schools to choose from.

In addition to the three schools standing out, Muller holds offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, South Carolina, Temple, Virginia and West Virginia.

"It takes a lot of time, and I have my mom to thank because she helps me organize is all. We have a binder full of letters," the 6-foot-6, 290-pound Muller said. "It's been pretty busy. I've been getting letters every day, and a lot of calls from coaches."

Muller is yet to make the recruiting rounds, but he made a pair of trips to Rutgers already and speaks regularly with the coaching staff.

"I like the coaches. They're very friendly," Muller said. "I've been talking to (assistant) coach (Brian) Angelichio and coach (Greg) Schiano all week. I don't know when I'm going to get there, but I'm trying to get there in the spring."

Muller already knows the campus and the facilities, as well as Rutgers' standing as the top-rated program in the country in Academic Progress Rate (APR). He attended a practice last spring, and also was at junior day in January.

"I like the weight room and the facilities," Muller said. "I'm looking for a school with a high APR so you know you're going to graduate and get a good degree. Academics are very important."

Muller also enjoys the atmosphere at Penn State.

"I like the feel of Penn State," he said. "I like the stadium, the school, the campus."
