Is RB Peoples Close to a Decision?

Rutgers has long been in heavy pursuit of Archbishop Wood High (Warminster, Pa.) running back Desmon Peoples, and the 5-foot-7, 175-pounder has long favored the Scarlet Knights. He is set to visit campus twice next week, so does that mean he is close to making a decision? Peoples gave the answer, and also talked about why Rutgers continues to be his top school.

A few months ago Rutgers told Archbishop Wood High's (Warminster, Pa.) Desmon Peoples he topped its recruiting list for running backs in the 2012 class, and it stuck with the 5-foot-7, 175-pounder.

He's long had Rutgers as his favorite, and is set to make a pair of visits to campus next week. And while he said he plans on making his decision before his senior season, Peoples said the timetable could be accelerated dramatically.

So, could he commit to the Scarlet Knights while on campus next Thursday or Saturday. "Anything is possible at this point," he said.

Peoples' decision for coming to a pair of practices is to get a much deeper understanding of the school.

"I want to get a chance to check out the campus and see things, and meet with the coaching staff," he said. "The first day I'm going to do the tour, and see the classes and how they go about things in the classroom. I'll get a better feel for how campus life is and going to school there. That's basically all I need to know for right now."

Peoples also will take in a pair of practices.

"I want to go see how the coaches interact with the players," Peoples said. "I want to see how they really are as coaches, how they coach, and what they're about."

Peoples is also planning on visiting West Virginia, Pittsburgh and UCLA, where he is tentatively set to travel to in late May or June.

"I want to see how things are out there, see if I like it, but Rutgers is my No. 1 right now still," Peoples said. "I like the way the coaches reach out to me almost every day, and I'm talking to coach (Greg) Schiano weekly. I feel comfortable, and we're building a special relationship, and I feel really comfortable with going to that school."

Peoples said the Scarlet Knights coaching staff continues to tell him he is the No. 1 running back on the board.

"It means a lot," he said. "A lot of schools look at a lot of different people, and there's a lot of kids in this country that are talented at their position, and it feels good to know the school is in favor of me the most."
