People's Choice: Rutgers

Rutgers picked up its second commitment of the 2012 recruiting class when Archbishop Wood High (Warminster, Pa.) running back Desmon Peoples announced he would attend the school during a ceremony moments ago at the school's library.

WARMINSTER, PA -- The relationship built and the loyalty Rutgers showed Archbishop Wood High (Warminster, Pa ) running back Desmon Peoples for two years paid dividends today

The 5-foot-7, 175-pound running back ended his college recruitment by announcing he would be a Scarlet Knight during a ceremony at the school's library

Peoples actually told Rutgers coach Greg Schiano about his decision a few days ago, but waited for the announcement to make it public

"There's been a relief because now I don't have to worry about where I'm going to go, or what I'm going to do to get more offers, or anything like that," Peoples said "Now, I'm just focusing on going out and winning a state championship "

Peoples is the second member of the Scarlet Knights' 2012 recruiting class He joins Linden (N J ) High receiver Ruhann Peele, who committed earlier this month

Peoples rushed for more than 1,300 yards and 23 touchdowns on 165 carries as a junior He held offers from Rutgers, which was his first, Pittsburgh, Kent State, Georgia Tech, Temple and UCLA

However, his size was a concern for some schools

"It got frustrating at times, and overwhelming, because I felt like I should get more attention," Peoples said "But looking at it now, that would just have put more stress on me When it comes down to it, all you're going to do is go to one school "

And that school is Rutgers, a school that began recruiting him a while back

"They've been sticking with me, really, since sophomore year," Peoples said
