Countdown to D-Day!

Brandon Arcidiacono of Archbishop Wood High (Warminster, Pa.) is a day away from unveiling his college selection. He will do it during a ceremony at the school Wednesday at 3 p.m. But which schools are in contention? And what will the lucky school get? has those answers, and more, inside.

The hat thing is becoming old hat at Archbishop Wood High (Warminster, Pa.) this recruiting season, and the next in line is center Brandon Arcidiacono.

As was previously reported by, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Arcidiacono will make his announcement Wednesday during a 3 p.m. ceremony at the school.

"He'll talk a little bit, and then he'll probably pull a hat out of a bag for where he's going," Archbishop Wood coach Steve Devlin said.

Arcidiacono holds 15 offers, and is's No. 9 ranked center in the 2012 class.

He kept a number of schools in contention before making his decision privately last week. Devlin said he spoke with his standout lineman about the decision, and added more than a handful of schools continued pursuing him intensely until a decision was reached.

"Rutgers is very interested in him," Devlin said. "Boston College is …Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Temple .. Villanova is very high because of the location. He's got offers from Purdue, Miami, and Miami is very interested in him, and South Carolina is very interested in him."

One of the reasons for the high interest level from a number of schools Arcidiacono's combination of size and athleticism.

"He's such an athlete," Devlin said. "I've had some schools try to look at him as a tight end or a defensive end, and also as an offensive tackle. Being able to coach him and see him every day, and be able to evaluate him at center, I see that he does so many great things because he's such an athlete.

"He's strong at the point of attack, has great feet, and he can get out and up on the linebackers. He does so many great things as a center. That's his position. That's where he can get out and excel."

Arcidiacono will be the fifth member of Archbishop Wood's 2012 class to announce his school. Tight end Colin Thompson (Florida), running back Brandon Peoples (Temple), running back Desmon Peoples (Rutgers) and offensive lineman Frank Taylor (Boston College) already made their decisions.

"I think each guy is excited to do it themselves, and excited to have their own day," Devlin said. "After all the hard work and effort, to be able to do it in front of your friends, in front of your school, in front of the administrators you deal with on an everyday basis, it's very special to share this with them." will be at the ceremony to provide live updates beginning 2:30 p.m.
