The camp circuit is coming to an end and training camp is on the horizon. It is the perfect time for's "Jersey's Best: Ranking the State" feature. Not only are the players ranked, but the interest Rutgers is showing (or showed) is included. Please enjoy Part II of this special feature.

The summer camp and combine circuit is just about over and high school training camp is a few weeks away.

So, it is the perfect time for to unveil a three-part series ranking the top prospects in New Jersey's 2012 class.

Here is Part III:

10. TE Michael Giacone, 6-5, 242, St. Peter's Prep, Jersey City says: Committed to Rutgers on July 15, and had Maryland, Boston College and Connecticut as other finalists. He caught seven passes for 147 yards as a junior and was primarily a blocker for running back Savon Huggins.
What was/is Rutgers' interest? The Scarlet Knights wanted a tight end, and Giacone was one of only a few offered, and the only one from New Jersey. Getting him on campus several times in a short period sealed the deal.

9. OT Ryan Brodie, 6-5, 275, Long Branch High says: An athletic offensive tackle with very good feet. He holds more than a dozen offers and is looking hard at Rutgers, Connecticut, Vanderbilt and Purdue. He wants to make official visits before making a selection.
What was/is Rutgers' interest? Rutgers is only seriously recruiting one offensive lineman, and coach Greg Schiano has become very involved in the process.

8. S D.J. Singleton, 6-3, 185, St. Peter's Prep, Jersey City says: Making the move from safety to outside linebacker for the Marauders this season, but he wants to play safety in college. If he doesn't put the weight on, he can be an effective safety. If he adds weight, he can a very good linebacker. He is focusing on Rutgers, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Tennessee and Miami.
What was/is Rutgers' interest? Rutgers would like to continue its strong connection with St. Peter's Prep, and getting Singleton would strengthen the back end of the defense.

7. WR Leonte Carroo, 6-2, 400, Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey says: He will announce his decision Aug. 6 approximately 9 p.m. His final four are Rutgers, California, Boston College and Wisconsin, but the Scarlet Knights appear to be in good position. He lives within walking distance to Rutgers Stadium. He made 49 catches for 1,100 yards, 18 touchdowns as a junior.
What was/is Rutgers' interest? The Scarlet Knights offered last summer, and have been diligent with showing him plenty of affection in the process. He is one of two receivers (Ian Thomas) they continue to recruit hard.

6. CB Davon Jacobs, 6-2, 185, DePaul Catholic, Wayne says: Committed to Rutgers on June 30 over offers from the likes of Iowa, North Carolina, Boston College and Wisconsin. He combines size and speed, and will get a chance to play cornerback, but could turn into a safety.
What was/is Rutgers' interest? The decision came down to Jacobs or Franklin High's (Somerset) Kye Morgan, and once the Scarlet Knights identified their primary target, they went all out to get him committed.

5. S Elijah Shumate, 6-1, 205, Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey says: One of the most recruited athletes in the state has dozens of offers, and said Rutgers, South Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia and Michigan were high on his list. He projects to an outside linebacker in college. What was/is Rutgers' interest? In a class rapidly filling up, the Scarlet Knights will wait as long as they need to for Shumate to decide.

4. CB Yuri Wright, 6-1, 178, Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey says: Holds dozens of offers and visited Rutgers and Colorado, and has a trip to Georgia schedule. He is long and fast, and is one of the top cornerbacks in the nation. He had six interceptions and 45 tackles in 2010. What was/is Rutgers' interest? The Scarlet Knights continue to show Wright a huge amount of attention, and could be a huge get in the class.

3. MLB Quanzell Lambert, 6-2, 240, Timber Creek Regional, Erial says: Is hearing the most from Rutgers, Alabama, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern and Florida. He plans on deciding after making his five official visits, and has built a strong relation with the Rutgers staff.
What was/is Rutgers' interest? There is only one middle linebacker on the Scarlet Knights' board, and Rutgers is doing its best to make him understand staying home offers so many things for family and his education.

2. ATH Devin Fuller, 6-0, 190, Northern Valley (N.J.) Old Tappan says: If Fuller wants to play quarterback, his chances of winding up at Rutgers could be diminished. If he plays defensive back, the Scarlet Knights are in the thick of it. There will be plenty of time to make the determination since he doesn't plan on deciding until after the season.
What was/is Rutgers' interest? After his performance at the Schiano Shootout, the Scarlet Knights are thinking the quarterback thing may be the way to go. Rutgers will give him a shot as a quarterback, if he wants it, and that speaks volumes.

1. DE Darius Hamilton, 6-4, 240, Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey says: He trimmed his list to Rutgers, Florida, California, Oregon and Tennessee. The top player in the state tentatively set an Oct. 6 announcement date. He is coming off a junior season in which he had 13½ sacks, and could be a defensive tackle in college.
What was/is Rutgers' interest? Hamilton visited campus so much in the spring it was as if he was already a member of the team. He is the type of player the Scarlet Knights need to land to truly came New Jersey as their own, and are giving him loads of attention.
