Four-star WR Carroo Commits to Rutgers

MOUNTAINSIDE, N.J. -- Four-star wide receiver Leonte Carroo announced his verbal commitment to Rutgers during a party tonight with family and friends. The Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) star is the 14th member of Rutgers' recruiting class and the third wide receiver.

MOUNTAINSIDE, N.J. -- The much anticipated announcement of Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) wide receiver Leonte Carroo is over. In a party with hundreds of family and friends, Carroo announced Rutgers as his college choice.

"I feel very confident that the decision I made is the right one," Carroo said. "I thought for a long time that it would be my choice, but I had to be sure and I just knew it was after my other visits."

Carroo, a four-star recruit and the 15th-ranked receiver in the nation, named a final four last month of Rutgers, California, Wisconsin and Boston College. The four-star receiver then added Penn State to the mix last weekend after receiving an offer on a last-minute visit.

Though Carroo enjoyed himself at Penn State and said he will always remember meeting Joe Paterno, the visit only reaffirmed to him that Rutgers was where he wanted to be.

"I love it every time I'm there," Carroo said. "Rutgers definitely reminds me of the attitude at Bosco. It's a family atmosphere and that's the same at Rutgers. They're devoted to winning and I love all of the coaches."

Carroo let a handful of people in on the secret before announcing publicly tonight, including Rutgers targets Darius Hamilton and Elijah Shumate. Hamilton, Shumate and cornerback Yuri Wright are all high on Rutgers and Carroo told last week he will do his best to bring them to the Banks.

"I told two of my teammates too because I'm going to start working on them to get this thing rolling," Carroo said.

Stay tuned to for plenty more from Carroo's commitment party, including updates on other top targets and an in-depth interview with Carroo.
