The 6-foot-3, 210-pound tight end out of Chaminade Madonna College Prep (Hollywood, Fla.) named Rutgers as one of the four schools he has his eyes on for official visits.
"I'm starting to look more seriously at [official visits]," David said. "Right now, I want to go to Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Alabama and Rutgers."
Nebraska may also be on the list for visits, David said.
David said his initial interest in Rutgers came when he and teammate Fred McRae received verbal offers last year. Former teammate Johnathan Aiken also speaks highly of the program to him.
"I like a lot about Rutgers," David said. "[Aiken] says it's good up there. I like their offense and the opportunities that I could have. They do a lot of different formations and I could play in different places. They do some pro [style] and some spread and I could do well there."
With 10 offers to choose from, much of David's interest from schools depends on his performance as a senior. After tearing his ACL last season, David said some schools showed him less interest.
David said "a variety" of schools are in consistent contact with him, specifically Nebraska, Cincinnati, Marshall, Wisconsin and Rutgers. Programs like Alabama or South Carolina are not talking to him much now, he said, but he thinks contact will pick up when he returns to the field.
Team doctors told David he will be medically cleared tomorrow, but he will not play until Chaminade Madonna's second game of the season in early September.
"The first game is kind of a warm-up game for us, so the idea is for me to get comfortable in practice first," David said. "I've been doing a lot already. It's going to be a blessing for me to get back on the field. I'll be happy for it because I miss it a lot.
David plays quarterback, tight end and wide receiver on offense and linebacker on defense. Colleges, however, like him exclusively as a tight end, he said, where Scout.com rates him as the 43rd best in the country despite having no junior tape because of injury.
Here is a look at David's sophomore tape as a tight end.
