Recruit Wrap: Championship Weekend

It was state championship week for New Jersey high schools and many Rutgers commits and recruiting targets were in action. ScarletReport.com presents a quick-read look at how some of Rutgers' top targets as well as committed players fared on the high school gridiron during the weekend games. The "Wrap" goes wherever the Scarlet Knights are recruiting.

Rutgers Commits:

Sayreville (Parlin, N.J.) running back Delon Stephenson: In a state-title win over Manalapan at High Point Solutions Stadium, Stephenson logged 197 yards of total offense and a touchdown. Defensively, he made 11 tackles and two interceptions at safety.

Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) wide receiver Leonte Carroo: Carroo made big plays in Bosco's 42-14 win over Bergen Catholic at MetLife Stadium. The four-star receiver blocked a punt and caught six passes.

Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pa.) running back Desmon Peoples: Peoples ran for three touchdowns to help put himself and fellow Rutgers commit Brandon Arcidiacono into the Pennsylvania state semi-finals.

Class of 2012:

Northern Valley Regional High (Old Tappan, N.J.) quarterback Devin Fuller: Fuller threw for 141 yards and two interceptions on 10-of-13 passing in a 15-12 loss to Wayne Hills. On the ground, he ran for 186 yards and two touchdowns on 29 attempts.

Don Bosco defensive tackle Darius Hamilton: The five-star recruit had three sacks in a dominant effort by the front seven against Bergen Catholic.

Don Bosco safety Elijah Shumate: Shumate played his most complete game of the season, running for two touchdowns and returning an interception 21 yards for a third score at the Meadowlands.

Montclair (N.J.) ATH Khalif Herbin: In a shocking 14-13 loss to North Bergen, Herbin ran for 129 yards and a touchdown on the ground and completed three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Class of 2013

Wayne Hills (Wayne, N.J.) quarterback Kevin Olsen: Olsen led Wayne Hills to its second state title win over Old Tappan with 170 yards and two touchdowns.

Piscataway (N.J.) ATH Nadir Barnwell: Playing at Rutgers, Barnwell ran the ball six times for 34 yards and was 6-for-11 passing for 118 yards and a touchdown in a 41-34 shootout win over Elizabeth.

Don Bosco defensive end Alquadin Muhammad: Muhammad made two of Bosco's eight sacks against Bergen Catholic.

Timber Creek (Erial, N.J.) defensive end Dajaun Drennon: Playing tight end, Drennon caught a touchdown pass in the 35-7 win over Hammonton.

St. Joseph's (Montvale, N.J.) wide receiver Rickey Jeune: In a 45-22 victory, Jeune caught six passes for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) wide receiver John Tsimis: Facing Bosco's Yuri Wright for the second time this year, Tsimis had five catches for 58 yards.

Glassboro (N.J.) running back Corey Clement: Clement went off for four touchdowns and 229 yards on 30 attempts.

Class of 2013

Don Bosco RB/DB Jabrill Peppers: Peppers scored the game-clinching touchdown from 36 yards out at Metlife Stadium.
