Mike Teel (QB, 6'4"-210lbs, 4.9 forty) from Don Bosco High School (Ramapo, NJ) is one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and threw for over 2,000 yards as a junior.
Who has offered him?
Currently, Teel has scholarship offers from Rutgers, Virginia, and Michigan State. He expects to get offers from Maryland and Virginia.
Who are his favorites?
He stated his favorites, in order, as Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Maryland, and Rutgers.
What are his feelings on his top 5 favorites?
Virginia - Likes the campus and the coaching staff. He is also very comfortable with the offense scheme.
Wisconsin - He grew up dreaming of playing in the Big 10. He likes the offensive and the football tradition.
Michigan State - As stated before, he grew up dreaming of playing in the Big 10. Although he has not seen the new offense, he likes the style of offense that Coach Smith used that his past schools.
Maryland - Really likes the campus and the style of offense, which is very similar to the offense that his high school runs.
Rutgers - He believes that Rutgers is really turning things around and likes the fact that they have made him their number one target at QB. He is also very comfortable with the coaching staff and the campus.
Will you make an early decision?
He stated that he would have liked to make an early decision. Since he is a QB, it is important for him to select a school that fits his abilities. Therefore, he would like to take all five of his visits before committing to any school.
Does assisting in the turn around at Rutgers play into your decision making process?
He stated that he would only commit to a school for the right reasons and not just to turn around a program. However, if he were to commit to Rutgers, he would attempt to get other good players to Rutgers and start a New Jersey tradition.
Since Virginia is your leader and they have not offered yet, would you commit to them if they offered during your visit to their camp?
Even if Virginia offered, he would still come home, discuss the situation with his parents, evaluate where he stood on the depth chart along with how comfortable he felt before making any decisions.
What are the biggest factors in your decision?
Since he will not be making an early decision, he stated that there were a couple things that need to be addressed before he would commit. The first is that he wants to feel comfortable with the coaching staff and the surroundings. Second, he would like to have an opportunity to compete for the starting position by his redshirt freshman or redshirt sophomore year.
He knows that most of his listed favorites have underclassmen as their starting QB. By his redshirt sophomore year or before, these players should be graduating.
What camps will you attend?
Due to the dates of there camps, he stated that he will attend camps at Maryland and Virginia. Many of the other schools camps conflicted with other commitments that he had.
