With signing day less than three weeks away and Rutgers doing very well in recruiting, takes at look at the the Top 5 storylines between now and Feb. 1.

Sam's take:
Can Rutgers flip any verbal commits? The Scarlet Knights retain close relationships with recruits like Wisconsin's J.J. Denman, Penn State's Nyeem Wartman and Notre Dame's Elijah Shumate and remain involved with other commits.
Brian's take: What under-the-radar surprise will Rutgers pull late in the process? They are involved with cornerback William Parks, defensive end Evan Schwan and safety Jordan Lucas. None hold offers, but each could get one and is talking official visit, although Lucas said Thursday he hasn't heard from the Scarlet Knights for a few weeks and was concentrating on Temple and Penn State.

Sam's take:
Does conference realignment matter? So far, wide receiver Ian Thomas is the only recruit still on the Rutgers radar citing conference strength of schedule as a major draw to another school. Approaching signing day, the changes to the New Big East brought stability to Rutgers recruiting and keeps the Scarlet Knights in good standing with top recruits like Hamilton, Brodie and Fuller.
Brian's take: Can Rutgers finish with a huge offensive line haul? Ryan Brodie, Menelik Watson and J.J. Denman all remain on the radar, and Rutgers' willingness to take all three suggest where the offensive line depth is at this point.

Sam's take:
Does the early bird get the worm? Rutgers was the first to offer top prospects Ryan Brodie and Devin Fuller. Both are now big-time national recruits, but Rutgers remains in strong standing. The Scarlet Knights have work to do to seal the respective deals, but these two could make signing day much happier for Rutgers fans.
Brian's take: Can ground be made up? Elijah Shumate is committed to Notre Dame, Yuri Wright appears to be leaning away from the Scarlet Knights, Nyeem Wartman is committed to Penn State and Denman is committed to Wisconsin, with a visit to Pittsburgh coming up.

Sam's take:
Will he stay home? The top player in the state, Darius Hamilton, has had Rutgers as his leader or near the top of his list for close to a year. Has the full-court press from the coaching staff, Leonte Carroo, Gary Nova and others done enough to sell Rutgers to the five-star defensive tackle? His official visit next week will say a lot.
Brian's take: When will Tom Savage learn his fate? If he gets is hardship waiver, he is Rutgers-bound. If not, he is likely heading to a lower division. It could impact the decision of quarterback Devin Fuller.

Sam's take:
The Return of the King? Will Tom Savage come back to Rutgers? That latest information continues to be available via A Savage return not only drastically changes the look at quarterback this spring, but will become the hot topic of the year among fans and the media.
Brian's take: Will Rutgers land five-star defensive lineman Darius Hamilton? As reported in the Scarlet Walk, he cancelled his unofficial to Florida and that puts Rutgers in a very good position. He is tentatively set to announce Jan. 31, and what boost could it give the Scarlet Knights heading into signing day.
