Giacone Receives In-Home Visit from Schiano

A week before making his Rutgers official visit, St. Peters Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) tight end Michael Giacone received an in-home visit from head coach Greg Schiano and recruiting coach Jeff Hafley. Giacone, who verbally committed to Rutgers in the summer, discussed the in-home visit and his excitement for his Jan. 20 official visit to Piscataway.

Rutgers coach Greg Schiano and defensive backs coach Jeff Hafley spent the evening with tight end commit Michael Giacone for an in-home visit.

Giacone and his family had dinner with the coaches and discussed what he should expect during the next few months.

"It was fun," Giacone said. "One of the main reasons I chose Rutgers was because of the coaches. They're all down to earth guys and I have great relationships with them. We talked about everything, football, my visit, a bunch of stuff."

Giacone will be one of more than 15 top recruits at Rutgers this weekend for official visits. The St. Peters Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) standout has close relationshups with multiple recruits and said he looks forward to a weekend with them.

"It's exciting," Giacone said. "A bunch of the big guys from North Jersey are going to be there. I'm excited to just be together with them and spent some time with my future teammates for the next few years."

Giacone said he will try to have as much fun as possible, but considers the visit a work day in trying to recruit more players to the Scarlet Knights. Other top recruit recruits visiting this weekend including Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) defensive lineman Darius Hamilton, Northern Valley (Old Tappan, N.J.) quarterback Devin Fuller and Long Branch (N.J) offensive lineman Ryan Brodie.

"That's what I'm trying to do is bring them in," Giacone said. "There are going to be guys there that may not have sealed the deal yet and hopefully we can all give them a good weekend and make the class stronger."

On his visit, Giacone said he expects to be hosted by St. Peters Prep alum Savon Huggins or Keith Lumpkin.

"It will be good to see them and spend time with them," Giacone said. "I'm looking forward to being teammates with them again."
