Update on Tight End Michael Giacone

St. Peters Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) tight end Michael Giacone verbally committed to Rutgers during the summer, but the recent departure of coach Greg Schiano will force him to reevaluate his situation. ScarletReport.com brings you the latest on Giacone and his recruitment.

St. Peters Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) three-star tight end Michael Giacone is at Boston College for the weekend and keeping his options after Greg Schiano's departure from Rutgers to the NFL.

According to his high school coach, Rich Hansen, Giacone remains committed to the Scarlet Knights.

"He's still committed to Rutgers but keeping his options open," Hansen said.

Giacone is at Boston College for the weekend and is one of many recruits hoping the coaching situation at Rutgers is resolved by National Signing Day.

"He's going in with an open mind and we'll see what happens," Hansen said. "I have to make sure I take care of him in case something happens. They are looking at two guys who run a spread offense, so he has to look at that."

Giacone confirmed via text that he is at Boston College tonight, saying "I'm up here right now."

Along with Boston College, Wisconsin has been in contact with Giacone, Hansen said.

"We've had conversations (with Wisconsin)," Hansen said. "The tricky thing is who is going to be coaching there (at Rutgers)."

Giacone told ScarletReport.com yesterday that he and his family have had constant communication with the remaining coaches, including athletic director Tim Pernetti and that it has helped keep him up to date with the latest developments.
