Rutgers Offers CB Bell

St. Peters Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) cornerback Tre Bell had another dream week in the recruiting world, with three more verbal offers coming his way. Including offers from Nebraska and Florida, Bell picked up his 11th offer in the form of home-state school Rutgers.

St. Peters Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) 2013 cornerback Tre Bell picked up his 11th verbal offer today in the form of Rutgers. As a New Jersey native, the Rutgers offer was a special one, Bell said.

Bell, who played with current Scarlet Knights Savon Huggins and Keith Lumpkin, is teammates with wide receiver Charlie Callinan, who also has a Rutgers offer.

"It feels great," Bell said. "It's an offer I was kind of hoping for. The in-state offer, everybody wants that offer from their home state. It felt really good to add this one."

Bell said he was told of his offer today by his head coach, Rich Hansen, who spoke with Rutgers coach Kyle Flood earlier today.

"That's pretty special," Bell said. "I was kind of waiting on them to offer for a while now, but I think it has been different with the new coach."

Rutgers and Bell have not been in contact since the offer.

"I haven't gotten a chance to meet the new staff, but I'm going to get in touch with them soon," Bell said. "I'm going to definitely go down in Piscataway to check them out soon.

Earlier in the week, Bell picked up offers from Nebraska and Florida.

"Nebraska had a really good season this year in the Big 10," Bell said. "They have really good academics. Florida is a dream school. To get that, talking to [head coach Will Muschamp] and having them tell me they wanted to offer was really big. I'm really happy about that one."

Bell unofficially visited West Virginia this weekend with teammates Callinan and Shane Huber. Former teammate Brandon Napoleon signed with the Mountaineers two weeks ago.

"It was fun," Bell said. "They showed me a really good time. I got a chance to meet the whole coaching staff and the basketball game was really fun. The Coliseum was filled all the way to the top. I really enjoyed that a lot."
