MLB Bell Talks Rutgers Offer

Oakcrest (Mays Landing, N.J.) middle linebacker Brandon Bell picked up his third verbal scholarship offer today while on an unofficial visit to Rutgers. Bell, who also holds offers from Connecticut and Northwestern, spoke with ScarletReport.com about the Scarlet Knights.

When Oakcrest (Mays Landing, N.J.) middle linebacker Brandon Bell was called into Kyle Flood's office, he knew something was up. Ten minutes later, he walked out of the room with his third verbal offer.

"It's definitely exciting," Bell said. "It means a lot to get this one because I like Rutgers a lot. It feels good."

Bell was in attendance today at the Rutgers basketball game against No. 2 Syracuse.

"I definitely like Rutgers a lot with them being the home-state school," Bell said. "Sometimes you just want to get away, but at the same time, being close makes everything easier. Where I'm from, it's not too close."

Bell was familiar with the former staff under Greg Schiano, but met Flood and linebackers coach Dave Cohen today and left with a positive impression.

"They're both great guys," Bell said. "I was definitely excited to see that they're keeping Rutgers football in the right direction. Everything was good with Coach Schiano there, and it's going to be the same without him. I really liked talking with Coach Flood."

Bell also holds offers from Northwestern and Connecticut and has no timetable for a decision.

"Everybody is even now," Bell said. "I'm still weighing my options."
