Quick Hitter: Rutgers Offers Florida MLB Deeb

Rutgers coach Kyle Flood continues to look into Florida for his 2013 recruiting class. Middle linebacker Michael Deeb from American Heritage School (Plantation, Fla.) picked up a verbal offer from the Scarlet Knights today.

American Heritage School (Plantation, Fla.) middle linebacker Michael Deeb picked up a verbal scholarship offer from Rutgers to bring his total up to seven Division I offers.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Deeb holds offers from Penn State, Illinois, SMU, South Florida, West Virginia and Western Kentucky.

Deeb admits minimal knowledge in Rutgers, but likes what he has seen so far.

"I like the value of the education at that school and I've heard nothing but great things about their facilities," Deeb said. "It's 45 minutes from New York."

Deeb said he is building a relationship with linebackers coach Dave Cohen.

"Coach Cohen, from the little we have talked, seems like a great guy," Deeb said.

In his first month on the job, Flood has made it clear Florida is still a part of the Rutgers recruiting base and he wants to continue the strong Scarlet-Knight presence in the Sunshine State.
