Wilson Tabbed as Running Backs Coach

Rutgers coach Kyle Flood will replace Ben Sirmans with Norries Wilson as running backs coach, sources said. The search continues for a special teams coordinator, but with the addition of Wilson, Flood is yet again one coach away from a full assistant staff.

Former Columbia head coach Norries Wilson will join the Rutgers staff as running backs coach, sources said.

Ben Sirmans left for the St. Louis Rams two weeks after Kyle Flood hired him for the Rutgers job and Wilson is set to take his place. Wilson was the six-year head coach of Columbia, which ended after last season.

Wilson has offensive coordinator experience at Connecticut before taking over the Columbia program and has ties to the Northeast dating back 1995 when he coached at Bucknell.

With a background based primarily on the offensive line, playing the position for Minnesota, Wilson will be a running backs specific coach for the first time in his career.

Special teams coordinator remains vacant with the departure of Phil Galiano to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Flood has interview multiple candidates in the last four days, sources said.

Rutgers remains in good shape to complete its staff with time to prepare for spring practice.
