Rossi was one of three coaches to interview with Flood for the position last week. He has been the defensive coordinator and special teams coach at Maine for the last three seasons. Rossi's expertise comes as a linebackers and he has a strong working relationship with Rutgers defensive coordinator Robb Smith, who came from Maine.
The players return from spring break this weekend and the staff will have two weeks to work together before the start of spring practice.
Flood tabbed former Columbia head coach Norries Wilson as running backs coach last week to replace the other departed coach, Ben Sirmans, who left for the St. Louis Rams.
Flood will speak to the media tonight in New York while attending Brian Leonard's charity bowling event.
