Checking the mailbox
Rich Ohrnberger received two more written scholarship offers. These two are from Purdue University and UConn. This adds to the written offer list of Syracuse, West Virginia, Toledo, Hofstra and Towson State. He also has verbal offers from Duke and Buffalo. He will be camping next week at Maryland, Virginia and Penn State where there appear to be offers waiting. Ohrnberger is a talented DL and his coach Vin Mascia told Mike Fasano that Rich might enjoy staying close to home. He keeps checking his mailbox for that hoped for Rutgers offer.
What are they feeding the kids at Plainfield?
Plainfield's Steve Council just picked up the award for best OL at the camp and UNC, along with that came a Tarheel offer. Mike chatted with one of Steve's coaches and it seems that Council's team mates, Rob Crudup, Dan Davis and Phil Anderson will also do some camping - at Rutgers. Davis, a talented DE has offers from Rutgers, Virginia and Nebraska. Crudup, an exceptional offensive lineman, has offers from Rutgers, Iowa and Virginia.
There's even more talent at Plainfield. Super Sophomore Eugene Monroe is also making the camp rounds, he promises to be the top offensive lineman in the state before he heads off to college. But here's the surprise. Yet another Plainfield player recently emerged at the UNC camp. His name is Dana Hart, 6' 3", 205 plays TE, DE. He went to the UNC camp with Steve and it turned out to be a huge success. He had the best vertical jump of the camp at 33.5 inches and the best shuttle for all DL and TE at 4.37. UNC is now looking at him in a big way. One big plus, he already qualifies along with Steve in regards to grades and stuff.
Big Dog's update on trips, visits and leans
has set his visits as Rutgers, Maryland, Syracuse, Wisconsin, and Florida. The
word is that he would like to stay close to home.
Mike Teel still has Rutgers on his Top 5 but he will attend camps at Maryland and Virginia to gauge their interest (offers) before making the next step.
Phil Trautwein is still very interested in Rutgers (has them in his Top 5). He especially likes Coach Cristobal but the situation in the Big East will effect his decision. He will be attending camps in the south (Miami and Florida). We will have to pay close attend to his recruitment.
Nate Robinson??? – Rumor has it that he still needs to make grades (SAT). When Big Dog spoke to him, he seemed uncertain on what he would do about school. This is strange for a player that has already signed with Miami. Could this be a late surprise or is he just a little confused? Please keep in mind that he is an in state student, who would qualify for EOF. This means that he would have to pay very little to attend Rutgers, hmmm. Everything could come to light in the next 6 weeks.
