Rugers Still "On Top" for Brown

Williamstown (N.J.) outside linebacker Buddy Brown continues to list Rutgers at the top of his list, but is actively exploring multiple options before further cutting his list. Brown has multiple visits scheduled for June with school wrapped up and discussed the latest in his recruitment and timeframe for a decision.

Rutgers emerged as one of the leaders for Williamstown (N.J.) outside linebacker Buddy Brown after three visits to campus during the spring practice campaign. For a multitude of reasons, Brown said the Scarlet Knights are still on top heading into the summer.

"Things are going very well with Rutgers," Brown said. "Rutgers is still high on top of my list because of everything. … I had a lot of fun when I visited there. It's like a family. I spent a lot of time with [senior linebacker] Khaseem Greene."

Recruiting has been quiet for Brown after a busy winter and spring of visits. Focused on school and taking time away from the recruiting scene, Brown is looking seriously at narrowing down schools and preparing a decision.

"I haven't been doing too much since April," Brown said. "I haven't been doing any camps or visits or anything like that. I've just been trying to narrow some stuff down and look at all the schools. I want to finish my schoolwork before doing more stuff."

Brown had an early summer decision in his sights going into the spring evaluation period, but slowed things down and has a new timeframe in mind.

Brown added, however, that he could see himself making a decision earlier if it feels right with a school.

"I'll probably have my list cut down by the middle of June and I'll be focusing on which schools I want to visit before my decision and everything," Brown said. "… I'll probably [make a decision] in August or before school starts, probably like a late-summer decision."

Penn State and Virginia are the two trips in the works for Brown with more being looked at for later in the summer. He will attend a one-day camp at State College, Pa., June 16 and is excited for a return trip to PSU.

"I'm not totally going to just camp and everything," Brown said. "I promised the coaches I would come out. Now I'm trying to build a relationship with the coaches, the guys that are recruiting me, so I'll see when I get there. I'm just going to see when I get there, work out and learn from them. I'm excited for it."

Charlottesville, Va., is also in his immediate travel plans because of a strong relationship built with tight ends coach Shawn Moore, who recruits Brown's area.

"I have a good relationship with Coach Moore and the coaches have always shown me a lot of interest," Brown said. "They're talking to me more and more and I like the coaches. I want to get down there and see everything and get an impression of the school."
