Cohen is building a solid relationship with University School (Fort. Lauderdale, Fla.) linebacker Nick Internicola and will get the chance to show him around campus June 22 when he visits New Jersey.
"I'm going to be up at Rutgers June 22 with a couple of my teammates and just can't wait to go there and check out the campus and see how I like it," Internicola said. "I'm looking forward to meeting with Coach Cohen and the other people."
Internicola is being recruited to Rutgers as an outside linebacker where he would work with Cohen and defensive coordinator Robb Smith.
He is teammates with linebacker Skai Moore, who is also being heavily recruited by Rutgers and expected to visit with the team.
"I like the way the coaches talk to me," he said. "I have a good relationship with Coach Cohen. I'm starting to build a good relationship with Coach Smith and everything is going good right now.
"They like me because I have a really high motor. I'm always aggressive going toward the ball. They say that I'd fit into Rutgers and the scheme. They just like the way I carry myself as a person and my character."
Internicola recently visited Boston College, one of his seven offers, and immediately came off with a positive impression of the school.
"It's a really good place," he said. "I'm just looking at the campus and meeting all the coaches, which is an exciting thing to do. I'm trying to do the same things at Rutgers when I go. Everything is good at B.C."
Rutgers became a research topic for Internicola after receiving his offer, but the program is relatively unfamiliar for the rising senior.
"Coach Cohen tells me a lot about it, how they have won the most bowl games in the Big East the last six seasons and he tells me a lot," he said. "He's making me like it more and more. I definitely want to take my visit so I understand it more.
"I want to see a good college town, like if it's a good environment to live in. It sounds good, but I want to actually see the campus and everything."
Internicola has his sights set on a late summer decision to avoid any conflict with his senior season at University School.
"I don't know what the rest of my summer will be like but I plan on visiting other schools," he said. "Everything's even right now. I'm narrowing it down to the main schools that I'm interested in visiting. Rutgers is definitely in that category. So is B.C. I'm trying to commit before the end of the summer."
