Groomed to take over for Logan Ryan as a lockdown corner, Johnson went in-depth with to discuss his transition from young wide receiver to hopeful lockdown cornerback.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Tejay Johnson's time is up in development and his time his now to take over an inexperienced defensive secondary at Rutgers.

Johnson moved from wide receiver to cornerback early in his Rutgers career and grew under a veteran secondary during 2012. Now the top guy heading into spring practice, Johnson feels ready to step up and ready to lead the Rutgers defense.

Speaking after the first of 15 spring practices, Johnson broke down his personal growth as a leader and the many changes he and the defense feel ready to face after losing six defensive backs at the end of 2012.
