Rutgers Back in Play for Severe?

Christ the King guard Jon Severe trimmed Rutgers from his list following Mike Rice's firing, but could the recent coaching developments have the Scarlet Knights back in play for one of the top players in New York?

Christ the King guard Jon Severe will reconsider his interest in Rutgers with the news that assistant coach Van Macon will remain on staff.

"I just heard about it now," Severe said. "It's big. He was the only coach I knew there. He's a great coach. .. We like him."

Severe recently trimmed his list to Fordham, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest and West Virginia but said Rutgers could come back into the picture as he nears a decision.

"I don't know yet but probably," Severe said on reconsidering Rutgers. "... I like coach Macon."

Severe said he knows of soon-to-be coach Eddie Jordan and hopes to hear from him next week.

"I know about him sort of," Severe said. "I know who he is."

Severe scored 28 and 40 points respectively in his final two games with Christ the King in the Class AA state championship. Severe said he has a target announcement date of May 22 but could move up his decision.
