Cerenord Talks Rutgers Offer

American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) defensive tackle Edgar Cerenord recently added a Rutgers offer to his list and hopes to return to campus this summer. Cerenord went in-depth on the new offer and interest from other schools.

Rutgers has been a familiar school for American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) defensive tackle Edgar Cerenord during the recruiting process and an offer last week was cause for excitement.

Cerenord has a relationship with defensive coordinator Dave Cohen dating back to last year and former teammate Bryant Gross is set to enroll at Rutgers next week.

"Getting a Rutgers offer was exciting," Cerenord said. "I went to their camp last year and they told me all I needed was a good junior film to get an offer. They called and said they've seen it and they liked it. Last week coach [Dave] Cohen came by and saw Bryant and me."

Cerenord got his first Rutgers experience as a camper last year, but continues to hear about the program from his former teammate.

"He's told me that it's a good program and there was a reason why he chose it," Cerenord said. "He definitely wants me to look at Rutgers, but he's just on my side completely no matter where I look. He wants me to look for the best place overall."

Cerenord impressed at Rutgers camp as an underclassman and hopes to return as a senior.

"The school of Rutgers is a nice school, but I would like to see more like when the students are on campus and how players there go through a typical day for them," he said. "Rutgers was more than I expected because I really don't travel a lot. I really did like it up there. I'd like to go back."

Arkansas, Central Florida, Western Michigan, Indiana, Cincinnati and Wake Forest have all offered Cerenord, who said he has no leaders.

Michigan State, West Virginia and Minnesota are all close to offering and showing heavy interest.

"It's too early because I want to see everything," he said. "I don't want to just narrow it down too early and close doors on everybody else. I want to see and experience everything that I can possibly see in my next year."

Cerenord spent the spring focused on workouts and school, but plans to begin visits in June.

"I'm going to take some unofficial visits this summer," he said. "I want to go back to Rutgers and see some of these other schools. I want to take official visits, I don't know when, before I make a decision."
