The 11th verbal commitment in the Rutgers
class of 2014 comes at a position of need in cornerback. First Coast High (Jacksonville, Fla.) corner Kam Lott
made his verbal commitment to the Scarlet Knights and coach Kyle Flood, who looks to reload at the position after sending three to the NFL in the offseason.
"I committed to Rutgers," Lott told FOXSportsNEXT.com after a conversation with Flood.
A three-star cornerback, Lott chose Rutgers over South Florida, Minnesota, Indiana and Iowa State. He joins Nottingham (Trenton, N.J.) prospect Saquan Hampton in the 2014 Rutgers backfield.
"(I like) the tradition at Rutgers, how they put people in the draft every year and it's increasing every year, all the college kids going pro," Lott told FOXSportsNEXT.com prior to his commitment.
Smaller than the prototypical Rutgers cornerback at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, Lott was a ball hawk for First Coast as a junior with five interceptions and 30 tackles.
