Edwards: Rutgers is on Top

Miami Norland (Fla.) three-star receiver Kendrick Edwards has a leader and decision time-frame in sight after returning home from Rutgers camp. Edwards discussed Rutgers and other schools making a late push in his recruitment.

Rutgers emerged as the leader for Miami Norland High (Fla.) receiver Kendrick Edwards after he returned home from camp last week. Edwards spent two full days on the campus and left impressed with the program.

"Rutgers is on top," Edwards said. "Rutgers is definitely on top for me right now."

Edwards was close to a decision prior to his Rutgers visit and now plans to make a commitment by the first week of August.

With Rutgers in the lead, Edwards would like to visit Louisville before deciding and is in the process of setting up a visit.

"I think Louisville is the only other school I might visit," Edwards said. "I like them. I just don't know if I'm going to visit."

Edwards said Louisville, Arkansas and Rutgers are the most involved in his recruitment, with the Scarlet Knights showing the most overall interest.

"I really liked their camp," Edwards said. "Just hanging out with all of the coaches and getting to know them, it was great. … They showed me around everywhere. It was great."

The three-star, 6-foot-5 wide receiver cited his workouts with quarterback Tyler Wiegers as a highlight of camp. Wiegers committed to Rutgers this spring and worked closely with Edwards during camp drills.

"I think he's the real deal," Edwards said. "He's going to be really good."
