Lott: There's No Place Like Rutgers

First Coast (Jacksonville, Fla.) cornerback Kam Lott discussed his multiple college camps since committing to Rutgers, saying he remains "100 percent" committed to the Scarlet Knights.

First Coast (Jacksonville, Fla.) cornerback Kam Lott committed to Rutgers in the spring but camped at multiple schools in the southeast since making his decision. Primarily camping for team-building purposes with First Coast, seeing other schools has just made his commitment to Rutgers stronger, he said.

Lott considered keeping options open in the early part of his commitment, but his Rutgers camp experience in June sold him fully on the Scarlet Knights.

"I've thought about it because there's other places out there, but then when I got there, there's no place like Rutgers," Lott said. "Honestly. I've been to three SEC schools over the summer and seen their facilities and honestly, it doesn't compare to Rutgers. Rutgers had a great atmosphere up there."

Lott camped at Auburn, South Carolina and Mississippi State with friends and teammates. Though hoping for more offers and SEC attention, Lott said it does not affect his recruitment.

"I'm very solid – 100 percent," Lott said.

Lott ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at Mississippi State and said he stepped up his game consistently with the competition he faced this summer.

"I'm showcasing my talent," Lott said. "I'm glad I got to those camps to show everybody that I can compete with anybody in the country. I can compete in the SEC. I was one of the top defensive backs at some of the camps."

Lott is done camping for the summer, and did not received any new offers. His focus now, he said, is to wrap up extra academic work to ensure he can enroll at Rutgers for the spring semester.

"I'm getting ready for the season," Lott said. "I'm getting everything in line so I can graduate [early]. I'm just getting ready for the season. I should be done with my online classes in August to enroll in January."
