Flood Releases Game-Week Depth Chart

Rutgers and coach Kyle Flood are in game week for Fresno State, which means an updated version of the depth chart. Making formal changes for the first time since the start of camp, Flood has five true freshmen and new starter at right guard.

Rutgers coach Kyle Flood knew what he had at many starting positions going into training camp and the consistency in the Depth Chart released Sunday afternoon. Flood made just one change on the first team, moving senior Andre Civil ahead of redshirt freshman Chris Muller at right guard.

The biggest changes in Sunday's version, compared to the one released at the start of camp, come on the second team where new additions and position changes were key storylines in training camp.

The offense remained relatively unchanged with sophomore Paul James winning a three-way battle as the backup running back. Former all-conference lineman Antwan Lowery checks in as a second-team guard and second-year receivers Leonte Carroo and Ruhann Peele can expect significant roles as second-team receivers.

With the departure of Miles Shuler and a hamstring injury for Carlton Agudosi, Carroo and Peele emerged as the top two young receivers behind established starters Brandon Coleman and Quron Pratt.

The first-team defense remained the same throughout training camp with all 11 starters staying the same when it broke. Fifth-year transfer Lewis Toler checks in behind redshirt freshman Ian Thomas at cornerback with two true freshmen – Nadir Barnwell and Anthony Cioffi – cracking the list in the defensive secondary.

Barnwell and Cioffi are two of five true freshmen on the two-deep, alongside defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph, middle linebacker L.J. Liston and return man Janarion Grant.

Position changes for Tejay Johnson, Davon Jacobs, Djwany Mera and Quanzell Lambert have all four on the two-deep as second teamers.

Flood will address his updated depth chart and the beginning of Fresno State game preparations Sunday evening after practice.
