Freshman Focus: LJ Liston & Sebastian Joseph

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Saturday's 38-0 shutout of FCS opponent Norfolk State provided Rutgers with the opportunity to test out many young players on the defense. Middle linebacker L.J. Liston and defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph played their first career games Saturday and spoke in the locker room with about the moment.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Linebacker L.J. Liston is not a typical true freshman after spending time in military school to prep for Rutgers and he showed that with a five-tackle performance in his first game.

Liston entered for a banged up Steve Longa in the second quarter and finished the game at middle linebacker in high spirits.

For defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph, the opportunity to get on the field early was his focus during rehabilitation for shoulder surgery in high school. Joseph impressed in camp and debuted late in the 38-0 victory over Norfolk State.
