Rutgers Renews Temple Football Series

Rutgers and Temple announced the formation of a four-game football series Monday morning set for when the Scarlet Knights leave for the Big Ten. Rutgers and Temple re-start their series in 2020 with two home games at each school.

The recently revived football series between Rutgers and Temple lives on after the Scarlet Knights depart from the American and join the Big Ten. Rutgers and Temple co-announced a four-game series beginning in 2020 Monday morning.

Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann and Temple interim athletic director Kevin Clark made the formal announcement.

The gang reignites the rivalry in Philadelphia on Sept. 11, 2021 and Sept. of 2023 with the Owls coming to Rutgers Sept. 19, 2020 and Sept. 17, 2022. The games will take place at High Point Solutions Stadium and Lincoln Financial field, the normal home sites for both opponents.

Rutgers renewed its Temple series in 2012 when the Owls rejoined the Big East. The Scarlet Knights came away winners at 35-10 and are 20-15 all-time at Lincoln Financial Field.

Rutgers and Temple face off for the first and only time as AAC foes Nov. 2 in Piscataway.
