Upper Marlboro (Md.) Clinton Christian 2015 power forward Develle Phillips spent his Saturday on an unofficial visit to Rutgers. Phillips is one of the junior rising stars for AAU program DC Assault and discussed his experience in Piscataway.

Upper Marlboro (Md.) Clinton Christian three-star forward Develle Phillips is a rising name in the area going into his junior season. A class of 2015 prospect approaching double digit offers, Phillips spent his Saturday visiting what he described as a "program on the rise" in Rutgers.

Phillips knows head coach Eddie Jordan from time spent at DC Assault between NBA stints. He also has a relationship with associate head coach David Cox.

"It was a really good visit," Phillips said. "The whole experience was nice. It was a good facility. I was impressed by the visit and the coaches and everything.

"Coach Jordan is just a fascinating coach. He's a very good coach going back to his NBA experience. Coach Cox is really cool. He's a good guy."

Phillips got a tour of the Rutgers facilities and watched team workouts before heading to the football stadium to see a 28-24 victory over Arkansas.

Phillips sat with other recruits and tailgated with the basketball staff before the game.

"We watched the first half," he said. "The fans were really good. The environment was really cool. They had a nice support from the students. They were really passionate about everything. I took pictures with some people because they saw me with the basketball players and thought I was already on the team."

Phillips said that he and Jordan discussed the ability to contribute immediately at Rutgers and develop into an NBA player.

"I think I have the ability to play early anywhere I go, but that was something we talked about," he said. "I have a lot potential, and he was saying I can have a lot more room to improve and get even better. With Rutgers, coach Jordan said I can go far."

Phillips claims double digit offers and said Rutgers, DePaul, Texas, Florida, Wichita State and South Florida are showing the most interest.
