Hallmon Reopens Recruitment

Cypress Bay (Fla.) cornerback Deion Hallmon decommitted from Rutgers one month after choosing the Scarlet Knights. Hallmon discussed his decision and the next step in his recruitment with Scout.com.

Cypress Bay (Fla.) cornerback Deion Hallmon saw a lot that he liked about Rutgers, but now feels like he jumped the gun when committing at the start of his senior year.

Hallmon decommitted from Rutgers Sunday morning and plans to explore all options before making a Signing Day decision.

"I just felt like it was too early," Hallmon said. "Rutgers was a place where I didn't visit yet and my mom wanted for me to explore options and get visits before I decide. That was the plan before."

Hallmon plans to officially visit Wisconsin and said he will look at every school that has sent him a written offer before narrowing his list for a second time.

"Right now I think I need to focus on my season," Hallmon said. "I want to focus on that and set up all my visits to take before I make a decision probably on Signing Day."

Syracuse and West Virginia are visit targets, he said, but neither is set in stone. Hallmon originally planned to visit Rutgers on Homecoming in two weeks, but now has no plans to do so.

"I'm not sure yet," Hallmon said when asked if he is still considering Rutgers. "I still like them, but I have to take all of my visits."
