LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Rutgers true freshman Justin Goodwin saw significant action for the second straight game as coach Kyle Flood looks to improve the running game after losing Paul James. Goodwin logged 54 yards from scrimmage after going for 222 and three touchdowns five days prior at SMU.
Facing a better team defense, true freshman running back Justin Goodwin
saw his performance as a learning experience. Goodwin did not have nearly the same impact for Rutgers
as he did the week before against SMU
, but he felt improved in pass protection and the game is starting to slow down.
The Madison (N.J.) High School product logged 54 yards from scrimmage in the 24-10 loss and split first-team action with junior Savon Huggins.
Goodwin, who broke out with 222 yards and three touchdowns against SMU, will have a significant role in the second half of the Rutgers (4-2, 1-1) season with the health of Paul James Still in doubt.
