PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- One of the stranger backup quarterback stories added another chapter Saturday when Chas Dodd replaced Gary Nova at the end of a blowout loss to Houston on Homecoming. In the locker room after the loss, Dodd discussed his entrance into the game and what it means moving forward.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Quarterback Chas Dodd
was significantly more prepared for game action Saturday than he was when thrust into the Eastern Michigan
game five weeks ago.
Dodd stepped in for the struggling Gary Nova to finish off a blowout, 49-14, loss to Houston and could get a chance to remain on the field this week.
Rutgers coach Kyle Flood did not name Nova his starter in his post-game press conference, saying evaluation had to take place before the Temple game.
Dodd finished 11-for-15 with an interception, and said he would be ready to start against the Owls if called upon.
