Whittington to Transfer to Rutgers

The winning weekend for Rutgers basketball coach Eddie Jordan continued when forward Greg Whittington picked Piscataway as his transfer destination. Rutgers was his first visit after a decision to transfer from Georgetown, where he is expected to be eligible next season.

Former Georgetown forward Greg Whittington chose Rutgers as his transfer destination after an official visit.

Whittington visited Rutgers this weekend with family members after announcing intentions to transfer earlier in the week. The 6-foot-8 former three-star recruit concluded his visit Sunday with a commitment.

Whittington confirmed his commitment via text message, and said he can talk more after the conclusion of his visit.

Whittington was dismissed from Georgetown after an academic suspension last season and a torn ACL before the start of the year. Once tabbed as the replacement to lottery pick Otto Porter, Whittington is expected to be eligible next season with two more years to play.

Originally from Maryland, Whittington averaged 12.1 points and seven boards per game last year in the Big East.
