Underclassman Visitors: Running Updates

Rutgers had a strong crop of prospects on campus Saturday for an underclassman visitor day. ScarletReport.com remains in contact with all of the key names on campus, and has its running updates ready to go.

Discuss the latest Rutgers recruiting action INSIDE.

9:00 -- Add Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional linebacker Joe Giles-Harris to the list of visitors for today.

9:35 -- Glassboro (N.J.) Ronnie James texted to say he could not attend today. He will be visiting for a "personal junior day" on March 15, he said.

11:25 -- Union City (N.J.) 2016 OL Ulises De Los Santos received a verbal offer during his visit.

12:58 -- Millville (N.J.) running back Rob Ennis received an offer during a meeting with coach Kyle Flood.

1:44 --- Dontae Stirckland of South Brunswick texted to say he had to leave early but had a great time. "It was dope. Met the new coaches, and hung out with everyone."

1:50 -- Most of the coaching staff is at the basketball game with prospects and some of the recruits are really getting into the game. Don't see coach Kyle Flood in the crowd.

2:05 --Roselle (NJ.) Abraham Clark LB Darryn Canady said he is having a very good time but had not yet been offered. ...His coach told me this morning Canady has no offers and word is just getting out about him now.

2:24 -- Bethlethem (Pa.) Catholic WR Freddie Simmons was offered.

2:36 -- Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional OL Tommy Hatton left campus and said he had a very good visit. He and I will talk when he gets home in an hour or so for a more in-depth interview.

2:40 -- Westwood (N.J.) High WR Nolan Borgensen did not make the trip because his basketball game was rescheduled. He plans to visit on a future date.

2:56 -- The Hun School LB Christopher Sharp said Rutgers offered.

3:14 -- Montvale (N.J.) St. Joes WR RJ Edwards said, "I enjoyed the visit but did not hear anything about an offer yet. They seem very interested though."

3:22 -- Christopher Sharp said he enjoyed his visit and was surprised by the Rutgers offer. Robert Ennis said he was stunned by the offer and that things went very well during a visit with Ralph Friedgen.

3:23 -- Steven Gonzalez now lists Rutgers No. 3 behind Ohio State and Penn State.

3:26 -- Quarterback Tyler Davis texted to say he had a great time, and stayed late to get a meeting with offensive coordinator Ralph Friedgen.

3:36 -- Davis --- "The visit went really well. I loved every second of it, and I felt that family feeling that I love Rutgers has. A few coaches told me that the entire staff loves my film and loves me as a person. They do have Michael Dare, and expect to take one more quarterback in y class, which is between me and two or three others. So we're going to take it day-by-day. I was told just be patient because they know I love Rutgers and everything else will fall into place."

3:40 -- Freddie Simmons said that Rutgers is up top right now after his visit. He said Kyle Flood and Ralph Friedgen blew him away, but he isn't going to rush anything. He considered committing briefly, but understands he has about 15 options he needs to explore.

3:45 -- OL Tommy Hatton said, "It was awesome ...I will going back to in the spring." 3:53 -- Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional LB Joe Giles-Harris said he had a great visit. "I enjoyed meeting the new linebackers coach, coach (Bob) Fraser. ...I'm going to go back down with my parents in the spring to see the whole campus."

3:57 -- Manny Bowen picked up an Alabama offer today, but said the Rutgers visit was the highlight of the day for him. He said he went there not expecting much, and that he was caught by surprise (in a good way). Bowen said the family-atmosphere reminded him of home and that he could see himself playing at Rutgers.

4:35 -- New Rochelle (N.Y.) High RB Johnathan Forrest texted to say he had a great time today at Rutgers and really enjoyed spending time with the staff ...He did not get offer, though.

4:37 -- Ulises De Los Santos from Union City tells me Rutgers is recruiting him as a defensive lineman. Kyle Flood told him they need the best defensive linemen to stay home, and that was why he wanted to be the first to offer. De Los Santos will be back this spring.
