PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- A goodwill mission to Haiti was personal for Rutgers defensive end Djwany Mera. His parents are from the country, which was ravage by an earthquake, and Mera was part of a group of Rutgers players to visit the country and continue to help in rebuilding it.
When the opportunity came for Djwany Mera to travel to Haiti and work on the recovery efforts of the impoverished nation, the Rutgers defensive end jumped at it.
Mera's parents are from Haiti, so visiting the nation to help build a church held special meaning. He was one of eight players and former players to join Rutgers recruiting coordinator Tariq Ahmad on the week-long trip last week, and he spoke about the experience with ScarletReport.com.
