Rutgers Recruiting Florida OL Reed

Orlando (Fla.) Evans offensive lineman Tyrell Reed is giving Rutgers a look after speaking with the staff Monday afternoon. The 6-foot-5 tackle claims double-digit offers and detailed his interest in the Scarlet Knights with Scout.com.

Orlando (Fla.) Evans offensive lineman Tyrell Reed enjoyed a long conversation Monday with Rutgers position coach Mitch Browning. The 1-on-1 talk resulted in Reed receiving a verbal offer.

"I think it's great," said the 6-foot-6, 320-pound tackle. "It's nice that it's another big time school outside of Florida that offered me. It's a good feeling. … I talk to them on and off. They called me today and talked and they offered me."

Reed and Browning discussed the Scarlet Knights, and began plans for a summer visit to campus.

"He's a good coach," Reed said. "We were talking and he said he watched my film and he loves it and that I would fit in their program somewhere on the offensive line. He wants me to come out there over the summer for a visit and stuff."

Reed is eager for a Rutgers visit to learn more about the Big Ten bound program.

"I know a lot about Rutgers," he said. "I know it's a good program and they had good season last year. I know Ray Rice went there. I don't know too much more than that, but I plan on a visit during the summer."

Reed plans to take multiple out of state visits this summer with an interest in leaving Florida for college.

"I want to love where I'm going to be for the next four years," he said. I'm kind of leaning toward out of state anyways. I'm looking to go to a school outside of Florida."

Reed claims 12 verbal offers, including Clemson, Cincinnati, Duke and South Florida.

"Most coaches say they like the way I play the game," he said. "They like the way I dominate at my position, and that I play hard all the time."
