Hermann Hires Luicci to Rutgers Staff

Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann hired long-time Newark Star-Ledger college athletics writer Tom Luicci to her staff as senior director of digital media. Luicci joins the athletic department at his alma mater to provide content on athletics and "create an information portal for fans."

A long-time authority on Rutgers football from his role as the Newark Star-Ledger's beat writer, Tom Luicci will join the athletic department.

Luicci's title at his alma mater is as the senior director of digital media.

"I'd like to thank Dr. Robert Barchi and Julie Hermann for the opportunity to return to Rutgers, which has been my second home for the past four decades," said Luicci in a statement. "As a Rutgers graduate, I'm excited about being part of the most significant era in school history with the move to the Big Ten, and I'm looking forward to interacting with Rutgers fans and giving them another outlet for Scarlet Knights sports news on ScarletKnights.com."

Lucci's role will include a writing presence on the schoool's athletics website, and he begins May 5.

"We are thrilled to announce that Tom Luicci is joining us on staff beginning in May," said Hermann in a statement. "The opportunity to use his extensive experience to create an information portal for our fans and many critical constituents is vital to take advantage of our new Big Ten national stage."
