PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Rutgers was down three running backs and a starting outside linebacker entering Saturday's second spring scrimmage. Rutgers coach Kyle Flood gave the first-team spots to Desmon Peoples and L.J. Liston respectively to start the scrimmage, and both discussed the significance after the completion of practice No. 12.
Desmon Peoples averaged 6.3 yards per touch and scored a touchdown as the first-team running back in Saturday's scrimmage.
For outside linebacker L.J. Liston, getting the starting nod in place of Quentin Gause caught him by surprise and led to a significant role in Saturday's Rutgers practice.
Both players project to see significant work in the final week of spring, and broke down their scrimmage showings in 1-on-1 conversations with ScarletReport.com.
