Two Big Ten Visits for Three-star Robinson

Montclair (N.J.) three-star safety Elijah Robinson finished his first of two Big Ten visits this week with the other coming Wednesday afternoon at Maryland. Robinson spoke with about his Rutgers visit and to preview his trip to College Park.

Montclair (N.J.) three-star safety Elijah Robinson returned to Rutgers for the first time since receiving an offer earlier this spring. Also a state champion quarterback, Robinson is up to seven verbal offers and will visit the Maryland campus Wednesday.

Robinson visited Rutgers Tuesday with teammates, and left with another positive impression.

"It's still the same Rutgers," Robinson said. "It's still amazing. It's an amazing culture and facility. I feel great when I'm there. It's a great experience going with my teammates because that made it more fun."

Robinson watched practice, and spent 1-on-1 time with defensive coordinator Joe Rossi.

"Coach Rossi is a brilliant coach," Robinson said. "I definitely learned a lot from him just from the small conversation we had. Talking football with him is special. He's the mastermind behind that defense. He knows what everybody's supposed to be doing."

Robinson visited alongside some of his 2015 teammates. The Scarlet Knights also hosted lineman Krys Diaz, lineman Chris Mangrum, linebacker Kevin Robinson, defensive back Chance Riley and running back Shaquan Oliver.

"It definitely was more fun with my teammates," Robinson said. "Coming in with those guys is important. We have a lot of fun together and we all like Rutgers."

The entire group, along with Montclair coach John Fiore, will be at Maryland Wednesday to see the program.

"It's really exciting," Robinson said. "Being with my teammates going places makes it a better experience than going by myself. Seeing Maryland with friends will make it a better experience for everybody."

Robinson's offers include Michigan State, Nebraska and Virginia, and he is eager for a return trip to Maryland.

"I'm getting some interest from Maryland right now," he said. "I've been down there once for a game but I had to leave early. This time, hopefully, will be a better experience."
