Rutgers Offers Three-star Florida Safety

Rutgers continued its May swing in Florida Sunday with a verbal scholarship offer to Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage safety Desmond Cain. What makes Rutgers one of Cain's favorites following its weekend offer?

Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage safety Desmond Cain added an offer from Rutgers Sunday, and lists the Scarlet Knights as one of his top options.

"I was especially excited by this one." Cain said on his newest offer. "They're one of my favorite schools, so it was great."

Cain worked out in front of Rutgers defensive line coach Jim Panagos before earning an offer.

"I'm supposed to call him soon, but my coach said he loved the way I played," Cain said. "He got a chance to come out and watch practice and he liked the way I moved and said I should keep working hard."

Cain aims to visit Rutgers this summer to learn more.

"I don't know too much about them right now," he said. "I like their defense a lot. I like the way they get after it."

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound three-star is being recruited as a free safety. He listed Cincinnati, South Carolina and Bowling Green as other leaders alongside Rutgers.

"I'm very competitive and I think schools are liking that," Cain said. "They like that I'm a hard worker, and I can come up and make plays."
